2012 is going to be the kind of year predicted by the Mayans for Democrats and Republicans

I spent nearly thirty years working for railroads and I can feel a train wreck coming in 2012.

With all the self-inflicted wounds of the Republicans I can't really imagine Obama not winning. On the other hand, considering that everything that Obama's done to 'cure' the depression has only made things worse, I can't see how he could win.

The utter failure of the lesser evil strategy for the .01%, who own both parties and almost everyone in Congress, are coming home to roost with a vengeance. That's dramatically illuminated the by wild swings in votes and party identification.  In 2008 the GOP was badly hurt ( people said they dead) but the betrayals and failure of the Democrat White House and Congress drove 30 million Obama 2008 voters to unceremoniously dump the Democrats. Now, after two years of betrayals by Republicans voters are in a real quandary. "More Americans identified as independents in 2011, 40%, than in any year since Gallup began regularly measuring party identification. Democrats continue to outnumber Republicans by a slight margin, 31% to 27%, though the parties are tied when independents' leanings are taken into account." Gallup January 9th, 2012

At this point, only reactionaries can uncritically admire either party and their criticism counts for exactly nothing. They'll be told what they want to hear and then abandoned, as always. Both parties support or vote for wars, refuse to repeal DOMA, engage in endless delaying tactics to avoid passing ENDA and approve of Obama's handing over trillions to the rich while pauperizing the working class.

Who in their right mind supports their joint attack on the Bill of Rights. Republicans supported Obama when, in a self-indulgent fit of spite, he condoned or ordered the torture of gay military hero and whistle blower Brad Manning because he'd exposed Obama's warmongering. Republicans and Obama support FISA, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Agency and it's kangaroo court. They jointly voted for and he signed NDAA, the National Defense Authorization Act, which allows Obama and future presidents to arrest and detain American citizens without changes for an indefinite time. Congress, including Obama, voted for extending the Paytriot Act. Obama continues to use  kidnapping, torture and murder as instruments of state policy, as did Clinton and Bush2.

2008 was a train wreck for the GOP and 2010 a train wreck for Democrats, and 2012 is going to be a train wreck for both. Working class people, tens of millions of us  have begun noticing that the 'lesser evils' are getting more evil by the day. As I said four years ago when Obama was elected, the banksters' policies of austerity, pauperization, foreign wars, union busting and the unending assaults of racists, anti-GLBT bigots and misogynists are going to destroy the twin parties.

It's just a question of time.
