Equality Maine Endorses Democrat, HRC Endorses Republican

From the New England Blade

"EqualityMaine, Maine's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organization, announced this week that it will endorse Congressman Tom Allen for United States Senate.
Allen is challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican, who last Spring received an unusually early endorsement for the seat from the Human Rights Campaign.....

Nonetheless, activists are quick to point out that Allen has been a stronger friend with the GLBT community in D.C. garnering a 100 percent score from HRC in 2006 and 2004 compared to Collins' 78 percent and 88 percent respectively."

Once again HRC has endorsed the candidate who received a lower score according to THEIR OWN scoring system, and left it up to the rest of the gay community to endorse the more progressive candidate. I wouldn't be surprised if they call Equality Maine "divisive."

More on HRC Endorsed Susan Collins:

"Susan Collins (R) –With her support, the president placed two Justices on the Court who have aligned themselves with the far-right, anti-gay ideology of Justices Scalia and Thomas. She supported the confirmation of Leslie Southwick, an anti-gay nominee to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, who voted to uphold the removal of a child from her mother's care largely because the child would be in a "lesbian home..."

"Meanwhile, Collins had drawn sharp criticism for refusing to weigh-in on state issues of great importance to the GLBT community, in particular her refusal to endorse a 2005 ballot measure to keep an anti-discrimination law on the books." - New England Blade

Well, since HRC sponsors the Log Cabin Yearly Conference, are you surprised? Power Corrupts....

Now doesn't the above say it all. I would love to know where HRC gets off pulling such trash. We really have to hound them out of a job.
