So it was the DRINK that made his cape gay?

According to the AP wire, "Matador Joselito Ortega will be plugging a club-scene energy beverage called Gay Up and have those words embroidered into his cape in large, red cursive letters." So why do you need to know this? Two reasons:1) It's hilarious. GAY UP!!!!!2) It's an example of how far people have come. While the fact that it's a gay drink is raising some eyebrows, most of the controversy is simply about sponsorship in sports, and whether or not advertisement sullies tradition. The fact…See More

IOWA!!!

I am so, so proud of my home state for legalizing marriage today. I really can't believe this happened. This is a major human rights victory. Consider us the little state that could! For more info, go to desmoinesregister.com.See More

Who are you? (Creative answers encouraged!)
To be honest, I'm not sure.....

but I can tell you that my driver's license says that I'm 25 (which maybe the only true thing about it), that I care too much and not enough, that I bake, that I love nachos, and that I consider myself lucky to be from the midwest.
Activism & Interests?
Over-stimulation, under-representation (and how to fix that), art, writing, what you're interested in, fighting the good fight, having a complicated relationship with san francisco, peppermint tea, jamaica plain in the summertime, and also, most especially,

being an admin on the queertoday ning site! So let me know if you need anything or if anyone's (uggh) harassing you, and together we'll try and fix it. Also, I am more than happy to make you a featured member, if that's an accolade you're interested in. Just let me know!
Here is the minutiae of my everyday life.

Boston HRC Protest A Success...Thanks To YOU!

Posted on October 25, 2008 at 9:02pm 10 Comments

Today about 50 of us got together and marched outside the Sheraton, many of whom drove across state lines to make their voices heard. While the HRC attendees did not walk out of the banquet hall in disgust at their own behavior, I know that with our moving picket line, bullhorns, local media exposure (hi bay windows!), and party-crashers who threw flyers and asked questions, we put ourself in a position to change a few minds. We can only hope that these protests are a reminder to HRC of the… Continue

Send A Message To The Obama Campaign!

Posted on September 29, 2008 at 11:19am 1 Comment

Today is a "special coordinated blogging day" for the Stonewall Democrats to advertise their effort to coordinate donations from transgender people and supporters, and I, for one, think the whole thing is a freakin' great idea. The concept is that by encouraging people to donate to Obama through this site, they can present the donations as a cumulative effort and emphasize that transgender issues are not… Continue

Another Transphobic Television Moment

Posted on September 24, 2008 at 2:45pm 0 Comments

So I was watching The Daily Show online, and in the episode on 9/17/08 with Charlize Theron, Jon Stewart makes a really gross statement to the effect that trans people are ridiculous and hilarious and, most of all, DECEPTIVE. Obviously that sucks. You can watch the episode for yourself here, (and beware--it will start playing right away) and if you see things the same… Continue
