There should be more of us getting together discussing the merits of campaigning to force the UN to grant universal human rights to Queers worldwide.

We may have our freedoms (as little as may be) as Queers but there are those in nations that have not even decriminalised same-sex relationships or sexual activity between same-sex couples. You can still be executed or jailed in some places.

Why are we not protesting in solidarity with these brave people who have to go underground to be who they truly are?

This is a great idea, and so true. One thing I'm working on is an "international issues" section to our upcoming "resources" section on QueerToday. Generally - One thing we can do better at is giving folks concrete steps to take action, in the little time that they have. We're all trying to survive, so to speak, so somehow we have to be able to prioritize some clear action that will make the most impact.
We have to find a way to steer the movement back to the Liberationists. This is one way and a good way...changing the fight from marriage rights to basic human rights like International Decriminalisation of Homosexuality, Lesbianism, Bisexuality, Transgenderism etc.

Then we should look at other issues such as the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis. We may have a universal healthcare system to help us in Australia but you poor bastards in the USA don't. Then you have the HIV/AIDS crisis in the "Third World" (for want of a better word/world).

Take a look at some of the direct action groups out there from Bash Back to Gay Shame to ACT-UP. They are clear in their messages and tactics and we should be seeing more of it.

Infiltration of the agencies/departments/institutions/binaries of heterosexist society is the best way to gain visibility and affect change.
